As a graphic designer, I concentrate on the message I want to convey, and the feelings I want to provoke in people. My thought process starts off with considering the content and the viewer. I use design to show information from a new perspective. I feel that when a project or job is given to me, it is a problem that needs a solution. Finding the solution to the problem and presenting my thought process in the form of design gives me a sense of accomplishment.
A clean grid system is a reoccurring element in my work. With a clear sense of hierarchy and form, I feel my work conveys a calm and concise atmosphere. I am interested in the way forms relate to each other, including typography, photographs, and illustrations. I strive through this process to create dynamic compositions that conform to the parameters of specific project.
As a designer I am inspired by Wayne Thiebaud’s paintings that include food, cakes, pastries, candies and other miscellaneous items that utilize economy as a major design element. I use cupcakes as a reoccurring theme in my graphic work, digital illustrations, and paintings in a visually streamlined manner. Echo Chernik, an artist best known for her digital Art Nouveau style, influences my own digital illustration aesthetic. These influences, and many more, combined with my own sense of play and clarity allow me to create visually stimulating designs.
